Anodes for On-Site Hypochlorite Generation
Ru-Ir MMO titanium anodes and electrode assemblies for on-site sodium hypochlorite generation in municipal and industrial water treatment.
Where On-Site Hypochlorite Is Used and How It Works
On-site hypochlorite generation is used for drinking-water disinfection, municipal wastewater and reuse-water disinfection, and biological control in industrial circulating-water systems. Yianteng also supplies titanium anodes and replacement electrode assemblies for prepared-brine hypochlorite generators.
In the electrolytic cell, chloride ions are oxidized at the anode to produce chlorine (2Cl⁻ → Cl₂ + 2e⁻), while water is reduced at the cathode to produce hydrogen and hydroxide ions (2H₂O + 2e⁻ → H₂↑ + 2OH⁻).
Common Challenges
Unstable chlorine output
Premature coating degradation
Scale build-up and rising cell voltage
Uneven current distribution
Replacement electrode incompatibility
